College of Fine Arts, 808/855 Commonwealth Avenue Renovations
Boston University
Continuing to foster a 40-year relationship with Boston University, Walsh Brothers was selected to perform renovations on two buildings: 808 Commonwealth Avenue and 855 Commonwealth Avenue at the University’s renowned College of Fine Arts (CFA). This project focused primarily on the gut renovation and creation of 119 soundproof music classrooms. The classrooms are unique in that all provide a specialized environment conducive to individual use or one-on-one instruction. Due to these specific requirements, solid soundproofing, specialized acoustical treatments, and proper insulation were essential. This cutting edge cultural facility is the prototype for the modern university music classroom.
