BOSTON, MA, August 29, 2016 – Walsh Brothers, Incorporated announced today that employee Oscar Martinez received the Massachusetts General Hospital Crime Biter Award. This honor recognized Martinez’s efforts to “take a bite out of crime” and making MGH a safer place.
This comes after Martinez witnessed an MGH security officer being attacked by a suspected burglar during a chase through the hospital. With the help of Martinez and other MGH employees, MGH officers were able to locate and detain this individual, as well as recover a significant amount of stolen property.
Martinez is currently on the MGH campus as part of a team from Walsh Brothers working on multiple renovation projects underway as part of Massachusetts General Hospital’s Master Plan.
“We are grateful to Mr. Martinez who helped us stop a crime, catch a criminal and make our environment safer,” said Bonnie Michelman, Head of Security at MGH.
“Safety is top priority on all of our construction sites,” said Richard C. Walsh, President & CEO, Walsh Brothers, “but it typically doesn’t involve a police chase! Oscar showed tremendous character and bravery by stepping in to assist the MGH 0fficer and his actions are testament to our commitment to go above and beyond for all our clients. We are very proud of Oscar!”
