Walsh Brothers Completes Renovation of the Old Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital for Partners HealthCare
The official ribbon cutting ceremony marking the completion of renovation of the old Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital at 125 Nashua Street was held on July 8th. The newly renovated 10-story building is located in the West End of Boston along the Charles River and encompasses approximately 198,000 gross square feet.
Previously home to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, which relocated to their newly constructed facility in the Charlestown Navy Yard, 125 Nashua Street has been renovated and repurposed to accommodate administrative and support spaces for Massachusetts General Hospital. The newly repurposed space allows for the relocation of 1,000 employees of the medical and clinical operations groups from Massachusetts General Hospital's main campus, as well as others who are currently located in leased building spaces throughout the city. As part of the 12-month project, the shell core, MEP infrastructure, and mechanical equipment on the roof were replaced with new systems to accommodate the reuse of the building space. In addition, the project included new exterior building signage and the cleaning and re-pointing of the brick façade. The renovated space now provides administrative offices and support space, conference rooms, storage facilities, a café and lunchrooms, loading and unloading areas, and parking for occupants of the building.
Walsh Brothers is proud to have been selected by Partners HealthCare and Massachusetts General Hospital as construction manager and to have had the opportunity to work alongside the owner's project manager, Leggat McCall Properties, and the design team led by Linea 5, inc. and Thompson Consultants, Inc.
