Connell Emergency Building at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. The official dedication honored donors, dignitaries, and project team members, including Walsh Brothers, Incorporated, construction manager. On hand to celebrate the new Emergency Building were: Mayor Thomas Menino, Archbishop Sean P. Cardinal O'Malley, Margot Connell of the William F. Connell Charitable Trust, and Chair of Emergency Services, Mark D. Pearlmutter, M.D. The ceremony allowed the spacious new facility to be previewed and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. During the ceremony, Mayor Menino spoke of the importance of community-centered care and congratulated the team for bringing this new facility to the greater Boston healthcare community. The inaugural ceremonies ended with a blessing by Cardinal O'Malley. The new three-story 50,000 SF facility was carefully constructed into the hillside of the hospital's campus between two existing buildings, in a footprint that shares the ambulance access roadway and entrance to the new Emergency Building. The new Emergency Building named the William F. Connell Pavilion, will now serve as the front door to the Allston-Brighton community providing patients with state-of-the art equipment and technology, abbreviated wait times, ample parking, easy accessibility, and an environment of privacy and care. Due to the overwhelming generosity of donors, patients seeking care at the new facility will now benefit from leading medical care with diagnostic imaging technology that includes a 256-slice CT scanner - the only emergency department in Boston to have such advanced technology. Walsh Brothers is honored to be a part of this facility which will provide emergency care to this vital community hospital. Walsh Brothers is a fourth-generation, family owned construction management firm headquartered in Boston.
