September 14, 2009 - Walsh Brothers, Incorporated, a Boston-based construction management firm, with Women & Infants' Hospital representatives, staff, dignitaries, and 17 recent Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) "alumni" took part in a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the unveiling of the landmark South Pavilion. The South Pavilion is now home to a state-of-the art Neonatal Intensive Care Building which is the largest antenatal care center in the country as well as a model for future neonatal services.

The Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America Building Division recently honored Walsh Brothers, Incorporated with the prestigious “2008 Certificate of Commendation for Safety.” This national award was given in recognition of Walsh Brothers’ ability to maintain an incidence rate 25% Below Division Incident Rate for the Building Division. This marks Walsh Brothers’ 5th consecutive year winning this prestigious award. In addition to this award Walsh Brothers has also been accepted into The Construction Health and Safety Excellence (CHASE) partnership program which is a partnership between the AGC and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Walsh Brothers, Incorporated and MSCBA Break Ground on $48 million New Residence Hall at Salem State College
Salem, MA -Friday, June 5, 2009 - Patricia Meservey, Ph.D., President of Salem State College (SSC), alongside state legislators, collegiate partners, supporters, community members, the Massachusetts State College Building Authority (MSCBA) and Construction Manager Walsh Brothers, hosted the groundbreaking ceremony that marked the beginning of construction of an exciting state-of-the-art New Residence Hall and Dining Facility located on Salem State's central campus. Currently, Salem State College houses 1,500 students, roughly 25% of its enrolled undergraduates. However, SSC has set a definitive goal of obtaining 50% on-campus residency within the next ten years. Walsh Brothers was selected by the MSCBA to provide Construction Management services on this new residence life initiative. This new residence hall project, designed by Walsh Brother's long time trusted architectural partner DiMella Shaffer, will be the first major step toward achieving this goal. The project maintains an aggressive 18 month schedule which requires detailed logistics planning and phasing to ensure no disruption to the student's day-to-day activities. Walsh Brothers, is thrilled to have the opportunity to help pioneer this residence life initiative.

Walsh, President and CEO of Walsh Brothers, general contractor for the Women & Infants Hospital addition, is shown with Betsy Akin, State Director for the March of Dimes. During a half-hour luncheon fundraiser hosted by Women & Infants at the construction site, Walsh, construction workers and sub-contractors donated $6,500 towards the March for Babies to help give every baby a healthy chance on life.
